(Read Related : Heartbreak Poems) Selfishly, I beg God to let me awake from this nightmare And let me rest in the circle of your loving arms once more, To let me feel the touch of your hand stroking my hair, Longing once again to see the light in your eyes When you tell me I am the one you adore. And then I remember how that light faded away As you lay in my arms, so still, so peaceful, My tears falling upon your face, Unwilling to let you go, Yet glad the cancer can do you no more harm.
